LonWorks to Fiber Optic Converter (Point to Point and Multi-Drop Bus)
The LonWorks Fiber Optic Converter is a Multi-master and high-performance Field bus Control System (FCS). The Converter makes use of fiber cable as its transmission medium and uses optical fiber modulation/demodulation technology to change the electric medium into a light medium transmission.
The disadvantage of copper cable is being eliminated by LonWorks Fiber Optic Converter. Some of the other disadvantages are ground loops, EMI/RFI, high signal loss, short transmission distance between nodes of a system and potential lightning damage.
