DNP3, or DNP 3.0, is a SCADA and remote monitoring system communication protocol.
DNP3 was created as part of a larger effort in the electric utility sector to establish open, standards-based interoperability between substation computers, RTUs, IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Devices), and master stations (excluding inter-master station communications). The time schedule was also crucial, as was the necessity for a solution that met today’s needs. We achieved our goal, despite the fact that it was a huge endeavour. Since its introduction, DNP has gained widespread use in related industries like as water/wastewater, transportation, and the oil and gas industry.
